Below are the answers to the questions:
- How does the race mode work?
When you choose to race against someone else, the game will connect to the location sensor, retrieve your current location and tell the server to send all recorded tracks that start near your current location. Choose one of them.
Next, you are able to choose which opponent to race against. Everytime someone accepts the challenge and uploads his race for this track, he will be added to this list.
After you have chosen your opponent, the phone will download the race data. Now, you have to go to the start point of the race - the phone will always show you the direction and how much distance is still remaining. When you have reaced the start, the flag will turn green and "Start race" will appear. Press the left softkey and immediately start racing!
After a short time you will see your own realtime position and the opponents recorded position on the screen. You have to pass all checkpoints in the correct sequence (use the dotted route-line as a reference). When you have reaced a checkpoint, it will turn green and you have to go to the next one.
Try to reach the finish (= last checkpoint) before your opponent does! Once there, the phone will ask you if you want to upload your race. - How does the track record mode work?
Creating your own race track works similar to racing against an opponent. The only difference is that you can go anywhere you want.
Go to the start point you'd like your track to have. Start the record mode and set the start point using the left softkey. Now you have to start racing! Not only the track with its checkpoints will be recorded, your own performance will be the first official race for this track.
Whenever you want, set a checkpoint using the left softkey. All opponents will have to pass those points, also an intermediate time will be calculated when they reach the checkpoint.
At the position where you'd like the finish to be, go to the options menu using the right softkey and choose "Set finish". Enter the title of your track, let the game upload it - and that's it! From now on everyone will be able to race on your very own race track. - What's the use of checkpoints?
Checkpoints are very important in the world of RealReplay. You have to reach each one in the correct order, otherwise you won't be able to finish the race. Therefore, checkpoints define the route of the race. Also, the game calculates your intermediate time when you reach a checkpoint, so that you know if you are faster or slower than your opponent. - How close do I have to get to each checkpoint?
Each checkpoint (except the finish) has a red circle around it - this shows you the tolerance area of this checkpoint. This is necessary because of the inaccuracies of GPS. The tolerance radius around each checkpoint is about 10m. When you reach the checkpoint, you will get an acoustic signal and the vibration alarm of the mobile phone will go off for a short time. - What does RealReplay send when I challenge a friend after recording a race?
If you choose to challenge a friend, you have to enter his name and telephone number. This information will not be stored and will only be used to send the SMS to your friend. The message will be sent from your mobile phone, directly to the number you entered. - Is it possible to pause the game?
No, it is not. This has logical reasons. In order to prevent cheating, you'd have to resume the game at exactly the same position. If you could resume the game anywhere, a race wouldn't work. However, the accuracy of GPS isn't high enough for determining this. Depending on your surroundings, it might be possible that the position the GPS receiver determines when you want to resume the game is 10m off the real coordinates of this point. Even if you went back to exactly the same location. Having only the information from the GPS receiver, the game can not determine if you moved and the GPS signal is accurate or if it's the other way round.
This does not affect the gameplay in any way. RealReplay is about real races. You also can't pause a formula 1, car or bicycle race. - What to do when I receive a call during a race?
Continue racing while talking (if possible and legal, depending on the 'utility' you use to race). The game will continue to run in the background and will record your movements. It will not be paused - see the corresponding explanation of the FAQ for the reason why.
